In the early 2000s, apple juice was not only touted as a nutritious and powerful tonic, but also as an important source of antioxidants.
But when the Apple Store’s nutritional information for the juice and apple was leaked to the press, many readers wondered why it hadn’t been included in the nutritional information.
So we turned to a number of sources, including nutritionists, to get the answer.
According to nutritionist Lisa Meehl, the apple juice itself doesn’t need to be included in nutritional information to be useful.
“[Apple] juice is a great source of vitamins and minerals,” she said.
So, why didn’t Apple include the nutrition info in the apple product information? “
If the nutrition information wasn’t included, the consumer would be likely to think that the apple itself has been added to the food or beverage.”
So, why didn’t Apple include the nutrition info in the apple product information?
According to Meell, it’s because the nutritional data was leaked.
“Apple did not have the ability to edit the nutrition data on the label,” she told IGN.
“We had to have a number people in the office review the data before we approved it, and we had to get approval from them before we were allowed to add it to the product information.”
As an added bonus, she said, it took only one person to approve Apple’s apple nutrition info for the product, so she said that was one of the best parts about it.
“The customer can trust that they’re getting the best nutritional information available,” she explained.
“There’s no way that a third-party could edit the nutritional info.”
In the end, Apple didn’t want to put the apple in the nutrition line-up, so they didn’t include it.
Apple does include the nutritional details in its nutrition information when consumers enter their information into the online nutrition calculator.
However, the calculator will only show the most important information, like how many servings of apple per day you’re getting.
The rest of the nutritional chart will not be shown, including a detailed breakdown of nutrients.
